About the event

The Lanzarote Cycling Tour is the Club La Santa road race and in 2026 it reaches its third edition, on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October. It is 189 kilometres split over two stages, with the start at 08:30 on both days.

It is not a closed-peloton race: you ride in a group and what decides the classification are the timed climbing sections. Anyone who wants to can ride both stages or just one.

The two stages

Stage 1, Saturday: 115 km from Club La Santa to Puerto del Carmen. It almost circles the island by the north and the east, going through Famara, Teguise, Los Valles, Haría, the Mirador del Río, Ye, Arrieta, Costa Teguise, Arrecife, Güime, Montaña Blanca, Conil and Hoya Limpia.

Inside it comes the climb that defines the weekend: the timed climb from Haría to the Mirador del Río, 8.5 km and 310 metres of elevation gain, on the road that goes up to the Risco de Famara.

Stage 2, Sunday: 74 km from Puerto del Carmen to Club La Santa, with two timed sections. The first, from Las Casitas to Femés, 5.3 km and 170 metres. The second, from Timanfaya to Mancha Blanca, 12.7 km and 220 metres, already crossing the park.

They are long, steady climbs, not walls. The average gradient is deceptive here: what wears you down is the wind on the straights across the malpaís.

Bibs are collected on FRIDAY

On Friday 2 October, from 15:30 to 19:30, at the Club La Santa stadium. You have to bring photo identification. If someone else collects it, they need written authorisation and a copy of the participant’s document, and they will not be able to take the wristband.

Anyone who cannot go on the Friday has a second chance, but only in person: at the information tent, on Saturday from 07:30 at the Club La Santa stadium and on Sunday from 07:30 at the Plaza de las Naciones, Puerto del Carmen.

The wristband is worn until the Sunday closing ceremony.

What time you have to be there

The start is at 08:30 on both days, but the organisers ask you to be in the start area one hour beforehand. Access opens at 07:30: on the Saturday at the Club La Santa stadium and on the Sunday at the Plaza de las Naciones.

The cut-off times

They are not indicative: anyone who passes them, or who is caught by the broom wagon, cannot continue, and the organisers take both rider and bike to the finish.

Getting back, and a booking that expires tomorrow

Stage 1 finishes in Puerto del Carmen, some thirty kilometres from where it started. There is an optional bus service costing 15 euros with four journeys: Saturday at 06:30 and at 15:30 (Puerto del Carmen to Club La Santa) and Sunday at 06:30 and at 16:00 (Club La Santa to Puerto del Carmen). The Sunday 16:00 one has to be booked before 1 October at 10:00.

Anyone riding both stages can leave the bike in the designated area at the Plaza de las Naciones and pick it up on the Sunday before starting.

Registration

Entries closed on 29 September 2026 at 23:59 CET, the time stated by the organiser.

The price went in bands and the last one was the most expensive: from 23 September, 170 euros for both stages and 90 euros for a single one. Before that date, and since 7 July, 130 and 70 euros. Whoever signed up when it opened paid 90 and 54.

There are eight categories: cadets, juniors, under-23, elite and master 30, 40, 50 and 60. The cadets of 15 and 16 can only ride the second stage, and with authorisation from their parents or guardians.

The entry includes organisation and traffic management, volunteers, on-course feed stations, participant pack, bottle, finisher certificate, timing and results, massage, medical assistance and accident insurance. Two exceptions worth reading:

• The medal is only for riders who complete both stages. Of the 459 entrants on the official list, 55 are riding a single stage.
• The jersey is not included in entries made from 24 August 2026 onwards.

Compulsory kit

An approved hard-shell helmet, clothing suited to the weather, food and water for 50 kilometres, a mobile phone with the organisation’s emergency number and a rear light on the bike. And on top of that: the wristband, the bike number plate, the rider’s bib and the timing chip on your ankle.

Planning notes

The big day is the Saturday, and not because of the 115 kilometres but because of where they fall: the climb to Haría and the Mirador del Río come past the halfway point of the stage, with the island already in your legs.

Take gearing low enough to climb seated and long sleeves for the 08:30 starts with access from 07:30, because October dawns cool in La Santa. The northern road has stretches of rough surface, so very thin tyres are not worth it.

The feed stations are self-service and come roughly every 20 kilometres. There are no replacement bottles: the one in the participant pack is the only one. On the Saturday they are at km 25 (Teguise petrol station), km 41 (entrance to Haría), km 50 (Mirador del Río regrouping point) and km 83 (Castillo de San José). On the Sunday, at km 25 (Femés roundabout), km 48 (Plaza Alameda in Yaiza) and km 63 (Mancha Blanca community centre).

Watching from the roadside

The spectator zones the organisers point to are, on the Saturday, Club La Santa, Teguise, Haría, the Castillo de San José and the Plaza de las Naciones; on the Sunday, the Plaza de las Naciones, the Plaza Alameda, Mancha Blanca and Club La Santa. It is also streamed live on the Club La Santa YouTube channel.

Road closures

The organisers published the note with the time windows on 18 September. On Saturday 3: Tinajo 08:20-08:40, Teguise 08:20-10:30 and 10:45-12:30, Haría 09:00-11:30 and 09:30-12:00, Arrecife 11:00-12:30 on avenida Las Palmeras and 11:30-12:45 on the LZ-101, San Bartolomé 12:30-13:30 and Tías 12:30-14:45. On Sunday 4: Tías 08:00-09:30, Yaiza 08:30-11:15 and 11:15-12:15, and Tinajo 10:30-12:15 and 11:50-13:15.
