About the event

The Lanzarote Cycling Tour is the Club La Santa road race and in 2026 it reaches its third edition, on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October. It is 189 kilometres split over two stages, with the start at 08:30 on both days.

It is not a closed-peloton race: you ride in a group and what decides the classification are the timed climbing sections. Anyone who wants to can ride both stages or just one.

The two stages

Stage 1, Saturday: 115 km from Club La Santa to Puerto del Carmen. It almost circles the island by the north and the east, going through Famara, Teguise, Los Valles, Haría, the Mirador del Río, Ye, Arrieta, Costa Teguise, Arrecife, Güime, Montaña Blanca, Conil and Hoya Limpia.

Inside it comes the climb that defines the weekend: the timed climb from Haría to the Mirador del Río, 8.5 km and 310 metres of elevation gain, on the road that goes up to the Risco de Famara.

Stage 2, Sunday: 74 km from Puerto del Carmen to Club La Santa, with two timed sections. The first, from Las Casitas to Femés, 5.3 km and 170 metres. The second, from Timanfaya to Mancha Blanca, 12.7 km and 220 metres, already crossing the park.

They are long, steady climbs, not walls. The average gradient is deceptive here: what wears you down is the wind on the straights across the malpaís.

Registration

Entries are still open and close on 29 September 2026 at 23:59 CET, which in Canary time is 22:59.

The price goes in bands and the last one is the most expensive: from 23 September it costs 170 EUR for the two stages and 90 EUR for one. Before that date, and since 7 July, it is 130 EUR and 70 EUR. Whoever signed up when it opened paid 90 EUR and 54 EUR.

The categories run from junior to master 60, eight in all, and the cadets of 15 and 16 can only ride the second stage.

The entry includes organisation and traffic management, volunteers, on-course feed stations, participant pack, bottle, jersey, medal and finisher certificate, timing and results, massage, medical assistance and accident insurance.

Planning notes

The big day is the Saturday, and not because of the 115 kilometres but because of where they fall: the climb to Haría and the Mirador del Río come past the halfway point of the stage, with the island already in your legs.

Take gearing low enough to climb seated and long sleeves for the 08:30 starts, because October dawns cool in La Santa. The northern road has stretches of rough surface, so very thin tyres are not worth it.

If you are following it from the outside, the Mirador del Río on the Saturday and the Timanfaya junction on the Sunday are the two places where you see real racing.
