II Duatlón Supersprint Ciudad de Arrecife
Canary Islands super sprint duathlon championship on a city circuit closed to traffic. Postponed by the February storm, it is now set for 31 October 2026 in Arrecife.
Event information
About the event
The II Duatlón Supersprint Ciudad de Arrecife takes place on 31 October 2026, and that is not its original date. It was scheduled for 28 February and was postponed the day before, on the 27th, when the Canary Islands government and Arrecife town council ordered outdoor activity in Lanzarote to be suspended because of a storm. FECANTRI later set 31 October as the new date.
The race is the Canary Islands Super Sprint Duathlon Championship, both individual and club, and it also scores for Canary Islands school sport in the infantil, cadete and juvenil categories. It is organised by the Canary Islands Triathlon Federation and Arrecife town council, with José Israel Caraballo Nieves as island delegate and race director. The official launch was held at La Recova in Arrecife.
Course and distances
The race is held on a city circuit completely closed to traffic, and all three legs are run in laps:
- 2.5 km run, 2 laps
- 8 km bike, 4 laps
- 1.5 km run, 1 lap
The exact start and finish point has not been published. The launch took place at La Recova, but that does not confirm where the arch goes up: check the race rules before you travel.
Super sprint format means short and very fast, at the limit throughout. There is no room to mishandle a transition, and with four bike laps the course turns technical at every corner.
Heats and age limits
Not everyone who starts reaches the final. The 40 best athletes in each category go through to the final, so the race is settled over two rounds rather than one. The minimum age to take part is 12, in the infantil category.
Entry
Entries go through the FECANTRI platform. Anyone already entered for 28 February keeps their place without doing anything: the federation announced that entries made for the earlier date stand. Those unable to make the October date could request a refund up to the closing of entries for the new date.
You will not find the entry fee, the start time, the closing date or the field limit here: as of 20 August 2026 none of those appear on an open source. To ask, use competiciones@fecantri.org and +34 633 868 407.
Planning your race
Be careful with the calendars in circulation. The FECANTRI provisional calendar, closed in February, still lists the race on 28 February, and several aggregators repeat that date. The right one is 31 October 2026, according to the federation’s updated race page.
Racing in Arrecife in late October is nothing like doing it in February: mild temperatures, shorter days and less chance of a storm, although the Canary autumn also brings calima haze. And because it is a closed city circuit run in laps, anyone coming to watch has the best possible plan: stand in one spot and see the field go past seven times without moving.
