El Reducto - La Fermina Open Water Swim

About the event
The El Reducto - Islote de La Fermina open water swim is organised by C.D. Nonadamos in the urban bay of Arrecife, starting and finishing at the La Fermina islet. The last documented edition is the 12th, on Sunday 20 July 2025, which opened that year’s Lanzarote Open Water Swimming Cup as its first stage. The 11th had been swum on 9 September 2023, with more than 180 participants.
Route and distances
The swim stays inside the bay, between El Reducto beach and the La Fermina islet, in sheltered water a few metres from the promenade. The 12th edition had four distances: 1.6 km, 800 m, 400 m and an accompanied 100 m for the youngest categories. It is one of the island’s most approachable crossings, because you swim inside the bay and never far from shore.
Registration and status
No 2026 edition has been announced. The swim does not appear in this year’s Open Water Cup calendar, which does include La Tiñosa (1 August) and San Ginés (22 August). Entries and results for the 12th edition ran through Sportmaniacs, and the club’s own channel is where a new date would show up first. Checked on 6 September 2026.
Planning notes
This is a city race: you can walk to it from almost anywhere in central Arrecife, and spectators see the whole thing from the promenade. If it returns, not even the month can be taken for granted: the last two editions were swum one in July and one in September. Confirm the date with the club before counting on it.
