About the event

Worth clearing up before you book a hotel: the marathon is not run in Puerto del Carmen. It starts from the Los Charcos car park in Costa Teguise, and every distance finishes at Sands Beach Resort, also in Costa Teguise. Puerto del Carmen is only the marathon turnaround and the start of the half.

Sands Beach Active organise it, and in 2026 it fills three days, from Thursday 3 to Saturday 5 December. The Expo and bib collection are in that same Los Charcos car park, from Wednesday 2 to Friday 4. Two documents from the organiser give different closing times for the Wednesday: the schedule publishes «10:00 – 18:00» and article 5 of the rules, «de 10:00-18:30». Thursday and Friday match in both: 09:00 to 20:00 without a break.

There is one last window on the Saturday, 06:30 to 07:30, and it is not open to all. The organiser’s FAQ puts it like this: «Recogida de dorsales a última hora: Este servicio estará disponible de 6:30 a 7:30 en la expo de Costa Teguise (zona de meta) y está sujeto a reserva previa», late bib collection is available at those times at the Costa Teguise expo, in the finish area, and has to be booked in advance. Count on it without booking and you are left without a bib half an hour before the gun.

Course and distances

It is all paved coastal avenue through Teguise, Arrecife, San Bartolomé and Tías, with a maximum altitude of around 30 metres. The marathon follows the coast through Arrecife and Playa Honda, turns at Los Pocillos (Puerto del Carmen) and comes back the same way. The 10 km starts in Arrecife and enters Costa Teguise via Puerto Naos.

Saturday 5 December:

• Marathon, 42.195 km: 08:00, Los Charcos car park, 85 EUR
• Wheelchair half marathon, 21.0975 km: 09:00, 50 EUR
• Half marathon, 21.0975 km: 10:30, Puerto del Carmen, 70 EUR
• 10 km: 12:00, Arrecife, 55 EUR

The 10 km does not start at Marina Lanzarote. The organiser does not mention it on any of its pages, checked on 2 October 2026. The only thing published is the location of the call room, in the FAQ: «la cámara de llamadas de la salida de los 10km, situada en la Rambla Medular, cerca de Ferreteria Tias, Arrecife». The schedule says no more than «Arrecife».

Thursday 3 is the short-race day, all of it in the Costa Teguise finish area: 16:30 the warm-up and the mascot race, 17:00 the Buddy’s Marathon children’s categories, 17:30 the zumba warm-up and 18:00 the 5 km Santa Claus Race.

Be careful with the Santa Claus race page, because the rules posted there are the 2025 set: it speaks of «jueves 4 de diciembre» and closes entries «el viernes 3 de diciembre de 2025», checked on 2 October 2026. What is in force for 2026 is two other documents. The Buddy’s rules, article 5: entries «quedarán cerradas el jueves 3 de diciembre de 2026 a las 14:59:59». And the schedule, which opens a walk-up window for the 5 km Santa race, «09:00-10:45 Inscripciones Papá Noel 5km». The Buddy’s price moves around too: its own rules say «10,00 € para todas las categorías» and RockTheSport charges the Kids Race at 20 EUR.

The marathon has two cut-offs, both in article 3 of the rules: kilometre 21, at the Puerto del Carmen turnaround, in under 3 hours, around 11:00, and the start of Avenida Fred Olsen in Arrecife in under 4 hours 30, around 12:30. The overall limit is 6 hours and the finish closes at 14:00.

The half and the 10 km have a limit too, and it is not in the rules but in the FAQ: «tres horas y treinta minutos para la modalidad de media maratón, dos horas y media para los 10 kilómetros», three hours thirty for the half marathon and two and a half hours for the 10 km. After that you have to leave the course and the sweep vehicle picks you up.

Entry and prices

The entry window has three live dates, and all three come from the organiser. Here we give the earliest, 30 November, because anyone who goes by it is left out under neither of the other two. All three, so you can judge for yourself:

• The organiser’s FAQ: «La fecha límite para realizar inscripciones online será el 30 de NOVIEMBRE de 2026».
• RockTheSport, which is where the money is taken: «Del 20/01/2026 a las 20:00 al 04/12/2026 a las 20:00».
• Article 4 of the rules, which gives no day: «Las inscripciones estarán abiertas hasta el día antes de la prueba, siempre y cuando no se hayan completado las plazas ofertadas en cada distancia».

It is the same rule of thumb we apply at the Yaiza Extremo Sur: when the organiser contradicts itself, we publish the date that leaves nobody out and show the others. There are late entries at the Expo while places remain.

The price bands need reading carefully, because they are written the other way round from how they look. RockTheSport states them as «Fecha hasta 25/11/2026 0:00 → 85,00 €», and “up to the 25th at 0:00” means the new price applies from 25 November, not from the 26th. So: marathon 85 and then 90 EUR, half 70 and 75, 10 km 55 and 60, all three stepping up on 25 November; the 5 km, 20 and 25 EUR with the same step and closing on 3 December at 16:00; the wheelchair half marathon, 50 and 55 EUR stepping up on 31 October; and the Kids Race, 20 and 25 EUR stepping up on 30 November.

The 26 November doing the rounds is something else. It is the date in article 4 of the rules from which «los inscritos no tendrán su dorsal personalizado y tampoco podrán hacer la compra de la camiseta personalizada», entrants get no personalised bib and cannot buy the personalised shirt. It moves no price.

The minimum age for the 10 km comes out differently in two of the organiser’s documents. Article 2 of the rules admits under-18s «cuando tengan cumplidos los 14 años», once they have turned 14, with parental or guardian consent. The FAQ says something else: «Para los 10KM es de 16 años con autorización de los padres o tutores». The stricter one is the FAQ, so anyone aged 14 or 15 does well to ask at eventos@sandsbeachactive.com before paying. For the marathon and the half the two documents agree: 18 on race day.

No federation licence is required. The back of the bib is where the emergency contact, blood group and allergies go.

The 2025 podiums

Marathon, men: Denis Prikulis (Great Britain, 2:33:02), Maciej Napoleon Ogrodnik (2:33:14) and Francisco José García Viñol (2:33:36). Women: Daniela Oemus (Germany, 2:46:18), Kristine Bolseth (2:55:10) and Claudia Iglesias Acebes (3:01:14).

Half marathon, men: Ahmed El Mazour (Italy, 1:10:36), Tinguaro Quintero del Rosario (1:12:59) and Enrico Cittadino (1:13:05). Women: Emma Taylor (Great Britain, 1:21:22), Kerry O’Flaherty (1:25:32) and Lucy Lavender (1:26:46).

10 km, men: Jaume Leiva (31:56), Daniel Hawkins (32:51) and Chema Martínez (33:05). Women: Mia Leadbeate (38:35), Yuliia Tarasova (38:56) and Katherine Jones (41:10).

Planning your race

There is a bag drop in the Runner’s Zone on the Saturday from 06:30 to 15:00. Pacers at 3:15, 3:30, 3:45, 4:00 and 4:15 in the marathon, and at 1:30, 1:40, 1:50 and 2:00 in the half.

The buses to the outlying starts are not an included service: they are a ticket you buy and reserve. The organiser’s transport page says it plainly, «Tendrás que reservar tu billete con antelación», you will have to book your ticket in advance, and offers it online or during bib collection. They leave from Sands Beach Resort: the last one to Puerto del Carmen, for the half, at 08:30, and the last one to Arrecife, for the 10 km, at 10:00. There is also an inconsistency between pages from the same organiser, because the FAQ calls the 10 km transport «gratuito», free, while the transport page sells it.

And that transport page is still the 2025 one, checked on 2 October 2026: it talks about «6 de diciembre» and about buying the ticket «MIERCOLES 3, JUEVES 4 O VIERNES 5 DE DICIEMBRE», which are last year’s days. The bus times do match the 2026 schedule, but the dates do not.

If you are here to watch, the Costa Teguise seafront between 10:00 and 14:00: all three distances go past, the finish is there and there is live music from 12:00 to 14:00. The trophies are handed out at 14:00, not 14:30: the schedule closes with «14:00 Entrega de Premios y Trofeos Ceremonia de Clausura».
