Lanzarote Wine Run

A run and walk through La Geria's volcanic vineyards, blending sport, agricultural landscape, wine culture and a popular race atmosphere.

Event information

About the event

The Lanzarote Wine Run is run through the vine pits of La Geria, and its fourteenth edition, on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 June 2026, drew 2,094 entries. The course crosses the La Geria Protected Landscape, listed as a SIPAM agricultural heritage system, and finishes at the Uga showground, where the WineFestival is set up with DO Lanzarote wines, local food and live music.

It is organised by the Cabildo de Lanzarote and Yaiza town council with the DOP Vinos de Lanzarote regulatory board and the ICCA, timed by Toptime.

Course and distances

  • 23 km, starting on Sunday at 08:30
  • 12 km, at 09:30
  • 12 km walk, the same course as the short race, also at 09:30
  • Inclusion format with a Joelette chair, for people with reduced mobility
  • Wine Run Kids, on Saturday at 11:00, four distances by age group, bibs from 10:00 outside the church in Uga

Everyone finishes at the Uga showground. The course follows marked tracks and paths that you may not leave, and drones are banned because of the birdlife in the protected landscape. The organisers publish no elevation figure for either course, so any number circulating online does not come from an official source.

There are 10 aid stations on the long course and 5 on the short one and the walk, and every one of them serves water and wine from the participating bodegas. No cups or bottles are handed out: you carry your own bottle, flask or hydration pack.

Entry and prices

Entries opened on 17 December 2025 and closed on 7 June 2026, through TrackingSport.

  • 23 km: 45 EUR
  • 12 km: 37 EUR
  • Walk: 30 EUR

The entry covered chip timing in both races, drinks on course, the official shirt, wine festival tokens, insurance, the shuttle bus from Uga and changing rooms at the finish. The long race also included massage, a rest area and a healthy buffet. Refunds were 100 % until 1 April and 50 % until 31 May, with nothing repaid from 1 June.

How the 2026 edition went

Of the 2,094 entries, 1,163 were in the walk, 611 in the 12 km, 231 in the 23 km and 67 in the Inclusion format. In total 697 people were timed at the finish across the two races.

The 23 km was won by Yerove Rodríguez Machín in 1:24:18 and Aroa Merino Betancor in 1:43:29. The podiums were completed by Rayco Hernández Morales (Volcán Run Training, 1:29:37) and Tanausú Cabrera Albelo (C.M. El Jable, 1:30:26), and by Cristina Molina Rodríguez (Todos por un Sueño, 1:55:19) and Milly Shakespeare (2:04:53). Of 231 entries, 192 were classified.

The 12 km went to Adrián González Alemán (0:47:40) and Raquel Salvador Duarte (0:58:48), ahead of Andrés Eligio de León Díaz (0:48:33) and Cristian Ramírez Rosales (0:49:28), and of Pili Ramos Guanche (1:02:52) and Zurine Garitaonandia Beatove (1:04:52). Classified finishers: 504 of 611.

Planning your race

Buses to the start lines began picking runners up at 07:00 in Uga, and you cannot board without a visible bib. There are two cut-offs: long-course runners must pass the Testeina aid station before 10:00, and there is a further cut at Bodegas La Geria, at an hour the sources do not agree on (the rules say 12:00, the official programme 12:30).

Bodegas La Geria is also the best place to watch without running: every format passes through, at km 18.3 of the long course and km 7.95 of the short one.

Other island races in the same vein: Tinajo You Trail and Vertical Montaña Blanca.
