The third Vuelta Ciclista a Lanzarote was ridden on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October 2026, and what sets the classification is not the 189 kilometres: it is the 26.5 that are timed uphill, with 700 metres of climbing between the three of them. Omar Fraile (Mendiz Mendi Taldea) put the three climbs together in 48:59.28 and Sara Reimondo closed the women’s race in 55:54.02.
Every time here comes from the official RaceResult classifications, read on 6 October 2026: the two stage lists, the three hill climbs, the combined three-climb list by gender and by age category, the Lanzarote-born list, the Canary Islands list and the team lists.
The three-climb general classification
| Place | Rider | Category | Team | Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Omar Fraile | Master 30 | Mendiz Mendi Taldea | 48:59.28 |
| 2 | David Suárez Fernández | Master 50 | Tegala | +0:39 |
| 3 | Julio Aníbal Gervacio Rosa | Master 40 | RIU | +0:41 |
| Place | Rider | Category | Team | Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Sara Reimondo | Master 30 | Not listed | 55:54.02 |
| 2 | Elynor Backstedt | Elite | Not listed | +1:19 |
| 3 | Tal Hackett | Master 30 | Raptor London | +3:11 |
No elite rider made the men’s podium: a master 30, a master 50 and a master 40 filled it inside 41 seconds. The elite category winner, Pablo Silvio Caspani, came fourth, which puts the top four of the general classification inside 44 seconds after two mornings against the clock.
The three climbs, separately
| Hill climb | Distance | Fastest man | Fastest woman |
|---|---|---|---|
| Haría to Mirador del Río | 8.5 km | Andrew Larkin, 19:14.96 | Sara Reimondo, 21:08.52 |
| Las Casitas to Femés | 5.3 km | Laurens Verluyten, 8:34.68 | Elynor Backstedt, 9:05.99 |
| Timanfaya to Mancha Blanca | 12.7 km | Omar Fraile, 19:41.88 | Sara Reimondo, 23:38.08 |
Fraile won the general without winning either of the first two climbs: eighth at Haría and third at Femés. He took it all back at Timanfaya, the longest sector of the weekend, where he put exactly one minute into the second fastest time.
And the fastest time up Femés counts for nothing. Laurens Verluyten rode the 5.3 kilometres in 8:34.68, twenty-seven seconds quicker than the next man, and he is not in the general classification: he entered the Sunday stage only, and the three-climb list requires all three.
Backstedt was faster up Femés than 290 of the 292 men
Elynor Backstedt’s 9:05.99 at Femés reads better against the men’s list for the same climb: of the 292 men classified on it, only two went quicker, Verluyten with 8:34.68 and David Suárez Fernández with 9:01.85.
The other two climbs belonged to Sara Reimondo, who won Haría by 1:23 over Tal Hackett and Timanfaya by 1:03 over Lourdes Oyarbide. Backstedt had taken 2:01 out of her at Femés and it was not enough: the women’s race was decided on the long sectors.
The best Lanzarote rider is a master 50
David Suárez Fernández, second overall, wins both regional classifications: the Lanzarote-born one, with 42 finishers, and the Canary Islands one, with 116. Among the women both go to Paula Ramírez Luengo (CD Cuatro Elementos MD), with 1:05:09.83. In the team classification, which adds the times of all four members, Todo por un Sueño 3 won with 3:59:51.59 from the six teams classified.
The stage lists measure something else
The two stage classifications are not ordered by the climbs but by total time for the day, and the Saturday one is published under the heading of the red jersey for the best average. There, on Saturday, Fernando Rodríguez Morales (Z2 Bike) led with 4:48:19.2 for the 115 kilometres, at 24.18 km/h, ahead of Jose Antonio Castellano Talavera (Atlefulca) at 5:18. On Sunday, over the 74 kilometres, the fastest total time was Alberto Rojas’s (Autobuses Moreno Bike Team), 2:42:57.7.
How many finished
The two stage lists hold 460 race numbers. On Saturday 352 riders finished, 301 men and 51 women, with 51 non-starters, 26 abandons and one outside the time limit. On Sunday 349 finished, 291 men and 58 women, with 80 non-starters and 4 abandons.
310 riders completed both stages, which is the condition the organiser set for the medal. The three-climb classification holds 319, with 271 men and 48 women: these count two different things, finish-line arrivals on one side and passes through the timed sectors on the other, and they do not have to match.
Two classifications go without names
Of the eight categories in the event, two are for under-18s. The cadetes, aged 15 and 16, could only ride the Sunday stage and only with their parents’ or guardians’ permission, and they have a classification of their own: it was won in 35:46.14 over the two climbs open to them, with the second rider 36 seconds back and the third 2:29 back. Four were classified. The three-climb general classification also holds a single junior, with 1:00:32.51.
A TriLanzarote report never names a minor, even when the name is openly published in the official results. Places, times and the number of finishers do go in; the name does not. Every other name in this report comes from an adult category in the classification itself, elite or master, because this event publishes each rider’s age category. Not every event on the calendar does, and where it is not published we name nobody.
The event page, with the route and the source for every figure, is at Vuelta Ciclista a Lanzarote, and what was known before the start is in the preview with the entry list. The full calendar is at sports events in Lanzarote.
