Yaiza Extremo Sur 2026: start times, fees and how to enter

The two mountain bike distances set off from Calle La Concha on Saturday 7 November, an hour apart, with the finish closing at 13:30. Here is what each one asks of you, what you have to carry and which dates fall due first.

The Yaiza Extremo Sur is run on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 November in Playa Blanca. Both mountain bike formats start and finish on Calle La Concha, in the THB Tropical Island area, and the weekend opens on Friday afternoon with the cycling school race.

This is what you need sorted to ride it, from the 2026 regulations — updated on 8 October — and from the event programme and the Cronoline entry platform, both read on 10 October 2026.

The two formats and their minimum ages

  • MTB 60 km. Starts at 8:00. Minimum age 17 by 31 December 2026, which is the junior category.
  • MTB 30 km. Starts at 9:00. Minimum age 15 by that same date, the cadete category.
  • Infantil MTB. Friday 6, a cycling school race on a course adapted to the ages of the riders and to Canarian Cycling Federation rules.

Both mountain bike distances are ridden entirely inside the municipality of Yaiza, and the race counts towards the XIX Copa Interinsular Lanzarote Fuerteventura of the Canarian Cycling Federation. Anyone under 18 hands in a form signed by a parent or legal guardian when collecting their number.

The cut-off times, which are what decides the day

The regulations list two aid stations on the long course and one on the short course, with a cut-off at both finishes:

  • MTB 60 km: start at 8:00, aid station at kilometre 21, second aid station at kilometre 41 with a 12:00 cut-off, and the finish closing at 13:30.
  • MTB 30 km: start at 9:00, aid station at kilometre 13 and the same 13:30 cut-off at the finish.

The day’s programme closes the finish for both formats at 13:30 and puts the prize ceremony at 13:45. Anyone outside the checkpoint times leaves the race, and the organisers carry them from the checkpoint to the finish area.

And one detail changes how you ride it: «NO HABRÁ VASOS en los puntos de avituallamiento», there will be no cups at the aid stations. Without your own container there is nothing to drink, on the course or at the finish.

What you have to carry

The regulations make two things compulsory, and both are checked on the start line:

  • A rigid, approved helmet, which «estará siempre abrochado mientras el deportista esté en contacto con la bicicleta», must stay fastened the whole time you are in contact with the bike.
  • The chip plate handed out by the organisers, mounted on the front of the bike and fully visible. Trimming it, bending it or removing the advertising is grounds for disqualification.

On top of that comes the container for liquid. The recommended list covers a basic tool kit — there is mechanical support in the start area — a mobile phone with battery and with the number you gave on the entry form, and your own food and water despite the aid stations.

One more thing that is not kit but is asked for in the same place: your racing licence is shown when you collect your number. Riders without one add 15 euros to the fee, and those 15 euros bring the organisers’ accident insurance with them.

What it costs and how long you have to pay

Today, 10 October 2026, the platform charges 48 euros for the 60 km and 32 for the 30 km. The regulations dated 8 October publish the fee as 60 euros for the 60 km and 40 for the 30 km, and the platform announces that rise on the entry screen itself: the opening price does not last to the end of the window, so entering early is cheaper. The children’s race is 10 euros and that fee has no tiers.

The fee covers the rider’s bag, chip timing, the aid stations, course marking and signing, the safety and emergency cover, and third-party liability insurance.

Entries close on Tuesday 3 November at 23:59 Canary time, or earlier if the places fill. The regulations print 4 November and the platform gives the 3rd: the 3rd is the one that closes the form and it is also the earlier of the two, so going by it keeps you safe.

What you get back if you cannot make it

The regulations draw the line at the fifteen days before the race, which for Saturday 7 November falls on 23 October:

  • Up to then, a withdrawal you notify refunds 50 % of the entry, never the full amount. With a partial refund you lose the rights to the rider’s bag.
  • After that nothing is refunded, and the regulations name the cases one by one: injuries, accidents, travel and changes of work shift.
  • Nor are format changes accepted in those last fifteen days, or once entries have sold out.
  • The entry is personal and non-transferable: it cannot be passed to anyone else under any circumstances.

Race numbers

The event programme, read on 10 October, puts number collection for both mountain bike formats on Friday 6 from 15:00 to 19:00 at the THB Tropical Islands, on Calle La Concha in Playa Blanca.

To collect one you must identify yourself with a DNI, NIE or passport. To collect someone else’s you need a photo of their document and a collection authorisation signed by them, and there is a template to download. The number is unique and non-transferable, and riding with somebody else’s puts both of you out.

Categories and prizes

There are trophies for the first three in each category and for the first three in the men’s and women’s overall of each format. The categories are the Canarian Cycling Federation’s: cadete, 15 and 16; junior, 17 and 18; sub 23, 19 to 22; elite, 23 to 29; máster 30, 30 to 39; máster 40, 40 to 49; máster 50, 50 to 59; and máster 60, 60 and over.

For a category to exist it needs 3 riders, «a excepción de la categoría Cadete, que se formará con los corredores que se inscriban», except the cadete category, which is formed with whoever enters it. And this one is worth knowing before you book the flight home: «La presencia en el acto de entrega de trofeos es obligatoria, pudiendo delegar la recogida en un compañero/a», being there for the trophy ceremony is compulsory, although a teammate can pick the trophy up for you. Prizes are handed out once every rider is in.

Friday, with the children’s race

On Friday 6 the event starts at 15:00 on Calle La Concha: that is when number collection opens and when the children’s race programme begins, starting and finishing in the same THB Tropical Island area. The exact start time of that race is still to be pinned down, so being there at 15:00 covers everything. The fee is 10 euros and it is paid on the same platform.

If you are going to watch

Calle La Concha sorts the whole day out: both formats start there, the finish is there and the prizes are handed out there, at 13:45. The two starts are an hour apart, at 8:00 and 9:00, so one morning in the same spot gives you both departures and then the finishes, all of them before 13:30.

For anyone driving or riding around the area, one warning from the regulations that matters: «La prueba discurre por carreteras abiertas al tráfico y caminos agrícolas», the race runs on roads open to traffic and on farm tracks. The course is not closed and riders have no right of way, so care is needed in both directions.

The full listing, with the tracks for both formats, the sports department contacts and the official links, is at Yaiza Extremo Sur. To enter you have to go to Cronoline, because the payment is theirs.
