Ocean Lava Lanzarote

Triathlon in Puerto del Carmen on 24 October 2026, with supersprint, olympic, relay and kids races. There is no middle distance in 2026.

Event information

About the event

Ocean Lava Lanzarote is raced on Saturday 24 October 2026 in Puerto del Carmen, and the first thing to know is this: there is no middle distance in 2026. The official rules list two individual formats, supersprint and Olympic, plus an Olympic relay and a Kids race whose categories are still to be confirmed. If you came looking for the half, 1,900 m of swimming, 90 km on the bike and 20 km running, you will need another race on the island calendar.

It is run by K3 Servicios Deportivos Integrales and sanctioned by the Canarian Triathlon Federation. Almost everything happens on Avenida de Las Playas, which holds transition, the finish and the running laps.

Course and distances

  • Olympic, start 08:30: 40 km on the bike, three laps of the LZ-40 circuit, and 10 km running, two laps of Avenida de Las Playas.
  • Supersprint, start 08:00: one lap of the same bike circuit, reported as 11 km by the local press in 2025 because the rules give no figure, and 2.5 km running out and back.
  • Relay, the Olympic split between two or three team members, also at 08:30.

The swim is in open water, starting and finishing on the Puerto del Carmen shoreline. One warning here: the 2026 rules contradict themselves. Article 1 and Annex II give 1.5 km for the Olympic swim, while article 12.3.1 describes a 400 m single-lap course, which is the supersprint text repeated. Until the organisers clear it up, the swim distance is not settled: worth confirming at info@oceanlavalanzarote.com before you plan your pacing.

The bike circuit runs along Calle Noruega and the LZ-40 ring road, turning at the airport junction and the El Toro roundabout. Drafting is allowed and aero bars are banned. There is water in transition, nothing on the bike, and a single running aid station passed four times over the 10 km. Cut-offs are 0:30, 1:00 and 0:30 for the supersprint, and 1:15, 2:00 and 1:30 for the Olympic and the relay.

Entry and prices

Entries opened on 23 January and close on 18 October at 23:59, or earlier if the race fills.

  • Supersprint: 30 EUR, one price for the whole entry period.
  • Olympic: 85 EUR until 30 June and 95 EUR from 1 July, the only rise of the year.
  • Relay: 40 EUR per person or 120 EUR per team until 30 June, then 50 or 150 EUR.

To get into transition you need a one-day licence, bought with your entry, or a valid triathlon ID. No medical certificate is required. The supersprint takes entries from age 14 with a guardian’s consent; the other formats are for adults. Wetsuit use depends on water temperature, measured by the referees an hour before the start.

2025 podiums

In the fifteenth edition, on Saturday 25 October 2025, the Olympic was won by Jorge Wilkes (CT Diablillos de Rivas) in 1:59:51 and Maikel Dohling (Todo por un Sueño) in 2:35:15. The podiums were completed by Rasmus Pilegaard (2:03:15), Arturo Javier Barro (2:08:08), Marine Blache (2:36:04) and Sheila Jordan (2:39:25).

The supersprint went to Fabio Vargas (0:41:16) and Paula Vargas (0:48:08), and the relay to Trilaguna Reactive in 2:11:53.

Planning your race

Bib collection is on Friday 23, from 10:00 to 13:00 and 16:00 to 20:00; the briefing is at 19:00 in Plaza de las Naciones and prizes are handed out at 12:00.

In 2025 Avenida de Las Playas was closed between Calle Rusia and Calle Yugoslavia until 16:00 on the Saturday, and the LZ-40 between El Toro and Matagorda from 07:00 to 11:30. The 2026 closure map is not published yet, so check it before booking a hire car or a transfer.
