XV Carrera Popular de Haría
Charity village race during the Tabayesco fiestas: 7 km for adults plus children's races, starting and finishing at the community centre, with a food collection for Cáritas Lanzarote.
Event information
About the race
At the XV Carrera Popular de Haría you do not pay an entry fee, you bring food. The contribution is non-perishable groceries for Cáritas Lanzarote, and with that you run. It took place on Saturday 24 January 2026, starting and finishing at the Tabayesco community centre.
It is organised by Haría Town Council through its sports department together with the Tabayesco fiestas committee, and it forms part of the village programme for the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria festival.
If you go looking for earlier editions and cannot find them, it is because the name changed: the 12th, 13th and 14th were billed as Carrera Popular de Tabayesco. Same race, same village, same fiestas.
Anyone can run it. There is a men’s and a women’s adult category plus two races for younger runners, and you sign up at the community centre itself on the day, with no platform and no deadline.
Course and distances
The adult course is 7 km of mixed ground, tarmac and dirt, through the Temisa valley and the streets of the village, finishing where it started.
- Adults, men and women: 7 km
- Youth, mixed: around 1 km
- Children, mixed: 0.5 km
Because the ground is mixed, a pure road shoe is not the best idea if it has rained in the days before.
Timings and entry
Entries open at the Tabayesco community centre from 15:30 on the day itself. Then:
- 16:45, children’s race
- 17:00, youth race
- 17:15, adult race
There is no online entry and no fee in euros: the bag of food is the contribution. The 2026 cause was Cáritas Lanzarote; in the previous edition it was the animal shelter La Casa de las Estrellas.
For questions, the Haría sports department answers on 928 83 50 09, extension 7.
Planning your race
Tabayesco is a small village in the north of Haría and everything happens in one place: entry, the food drop-off, the start and the finish are all at the community centre. That makes the day simple, but it also means there is no large car park: the earlier you arrive, the closer you park.
It is run in the middle of a January afternoon, with the adult start at 17:15, so the last stretch is done in fading light in a valley that cools down fast. Bring warm clothes for after the finish even if you do not need them during the 7 km.
One warning about sources: no podiums or results have been published for the 15th edition, so you will not find classifications on this page. The 16th edition in 2027 has not been announced either, nor has its date.
