IRONKIDS Lanzarote
The children's race of IRONMAN Lanzarote week, for ages 3 to 17, on Playa Grande beach. Run, swim and run again, with courses adapted to each age band.
Event information
About the event
IRONKIDS Lanzarote is the children’s race of Club La Santa IRONMAN Lanzarote week. The 2026 edition was held on Thursday 21 May at Playa Grande, Puerto del Carmen, two days before the IRONMAN on Saturday 23 May and in the same area where the adults finish. It is run by The IRONMAN Group as part of its international IRONKIDS programme, with the Cabildo de Lanzarote, through Lanzarote Deportes, as partner and the usual entry channel.
This is a participation event, not a competition. FECANTRI lists it in the official 2026 Canary Islands calendar and publishes no rankings: there is no podium and there are no finishing times, and that is the point.
Ages and format
It is open to boys and girls aged 3 to 17. The course is adapted to each age band, so a three year old and a sixteen year old are not doing the same race.
The format is not a full triathlon. The children run, swim and run again, one straight after the other and all on the same beach. Exact distances per age category are not published by any official source, so we are not quoting them: that is the detail to confirm with the organisers before you sign your child up.
Entry
No entry fee and no open online form were published for the 2026 edition. In previous years entries were taken at the Ciudad Deportiva de Lanzarote, at Club La Santa or through lanzarotedeportes.com, always with a signed authorisation from a parent or guardian. No source mentions a federation licence.

For parents
The start was at 16:30 according to Lanzarote Deportes, the same time as in 2025. It is a sensible hour for children: the May sun has dropped, though it still bites on the sand.
Playa Grande sits in the middle of Puerto del Carmen and the seafront promenade runs above the beach. That answers the usual question: you can watch the start, the swim leg and the finish from one spot, without moving and without walking on sand. If you are pushing a buggy or bringing grandparents, that is where to stand.
There is little shade, so bring a cap, water and sunscreen. Bring a change of clothes too: your child finishes wet and covered in sand, and a big towel earns its place in the bag.
Parking in Puerto del Carmen on a Thursday afternoon has nothing to do with parking on IRONMAN Saturday. Even so, spaces near the promenade are limited: leave the car a few streets up and walk down.
And in 2027
There is no confirmed IRONKIDS date for 2027. IRONMAN Lanzarote is announced for 15 May 2027, and the last two IRONKIDS editions were held in that same week.
