Entries for the Club La Santa Volcano Triathlon Half open on 15 October 2026 at 14:00, Canary time, which is 15:00 on the Spanish mainland. The time is loaded in the organiser’s own system: the public event page on the official timekeeper, Race Result, carries a «validFrom: 2026-10-15T14:00:00+01:00» pointing at its entry form, read on 15 October 2026.
This is the race you have asked us about most since the summer, and it is also a debut: middle distance racing comes back to Lanzarote after years with none on the island. Here is what is already settled, what is still provisional and what will only appear once the form opens.
What happens at 14:00, and where to look
The form is opened by the timekeeper, not by the club’s website, so the place to be is the public page of event 409582. Early on 15 October 2026 that form was still closed, with its registration menu disabled: the only thing loaded is the time at which it opens.
Club La Santa does not yet announce the opening day on its own website, checked on 15 October 2026. Its Volcano Triathlon Half page still carries the button «PRÓXIMA APERTURA DE INSCRIPCIONES 2027», next registration opening 2027, with no day, and the English version reads «2027 REGISTRATION OPENING SOON». That is no obstacle to entering, because the form does not depend on that button, but it does explain why anyone watching only the official site will hear about it later.
Three places cover the follow-up without depending on anyone:
- The official Volcano Triathlon Half page, which is where the organiser will announce it.
- The event page on the timekeeper, which is the system that opens the form.
- The «Club La Santa Races» newsletter, which you sign up for from that same official page.
The price shows up when the form opens, not before
You will not find a figure here, and it is worth saying why. Neither the official Club La Santa page nor the timekeeper’s public page publishes an amount for the middle distance, checked on 15 October 2026: the fees are only visible inside the entry form itself, which is what opens at 14:00.
The timekeeper did have a tiered fee scale loaded, but it is not a current price list: its first tier expired without entries ever opening, checked on 2 October 2026. Publishing those figures would be advertising a price nobody can pay. The one that counts is whatever the form shows on the day you enter.
The 26 June date is provisional
There are two published dates for this first edition and they do not match:
- The Club La Santa press release of July 2026, carried by Europa Press, launched the race on 24 April 2027.
- The official timekeeper today titles its event number 409582 «Club La Santa Volcano Triathlon Half 2027, 26/06/2027» and places it in Tinajo, read on 15 October 2026.
Club La Santa does not publish this race’s date on its website, checked on 15 October 2026: its Half page gives no day, and the only time it names a month is to talk about the water temperature in April. We publish the timekeeper’s date, because that is the system the organiser itself uses to open entries, and we treat it as provisional until the club confirms it. If you are buying a flight, wait for that confirmation.
If you came looking for the Lanzarote 70.3
It is a 1.9 km swim, 90 km bike and 21.1 km run, which is what most people call a 70.3. But this is Club La Santa’s own race: its official Half page, in Spanish and in English, carries no mention of the 70.3 at all, checked on 15 October 2026. The page does name the IRONMAN LANZAROTE route, but as a 180 km cycling loop around the island inside its riding tips, not as a brand or an organiser of this race.
What it is, in the organiser’s own words: the official English page opens with «Welcome to the first edition of Club La Santa Volcano Triathlon Half». And the July 2026 press release carried by Europa Press framed it like this: «Club La Santa recupera en la isla de Lanzarote una distancia que había desaparecido en 2023», Club La Santa brings back to the island of Lanzarote a distance that had disappeared in 2023. So this is the middle distance Lanzarote has today, under a different organiser and a different name.
About World Championship slots
Club La Santa publishes no slot or qualification for any world championship, checked on 15 October 2026, on its Volcano Triathlon Half page in Spanish and in English. What it does publish is prize money in the PRO category, and that is further down. If it changes, you will read it here.
The three legs and the cut-offs
The cut-offs are the part that really decides whether this race suits you, and two of them run to a fixed clock time, not to elapsed time. All the others count from each athlete’s individual start, because the swim goes off one by one.
- Swim, 1.9 km. In the saltwater lagoon next to Club La Santa. The organisers give a water temperature of around 19.5 ºC, and wetsuit use is confirmed on race day according to the measured temperature. Cut-off at 1 h 10 min from the individual start.
- Bike, 90 km. A single lap. Intermediate cut-off at a fixed 12:22, at kilometre 62.5 in Los Valles, and a final cut-off at 6 h from the individual start.
- Run, 21.1 km. Three laps from Club La Santa along the La Santa coast to Las Betancoras. Intermediate cut-off at a fixed 15:25, after 10.5 km, and the finish at 8 h 30 min from the individual start.
The timekeeper loads the start at 07:40, read on 14 October 2026.
Who can race it
The age groups run from 18-24 to 75-79 in five-year bands, and the minimum age is 18 as at 31 December 2027, which is the date your age group is worked out on, not race day. There are relay teams for men, women and mixed.
There is also a PRO category with qualifying times, and they are demanding: the men’s asks you to be capable of finishing in «menos de 4 horas 40 minutos», under 4 hours 40 minutes, and the women’s in «5 horas 15 minutos», 5 hours 15 minutes.
What the entry covers
Organisation, traffic control and marshals, aid stations on course, a participant shirt and backpack, a finisher medal and patch, chip timing with results, first aid cover, a relaxing massage in the finish area in order of arrival given by students of a massage therapy school, and accident insurance included in the entry, through Mutuacat. For therapeutic massage the organisers point you to a qualified physiotherapist.
Numbers are collected in person with a photo ID or passport, and the race runs under ITU competition rules.
What the winners take home
Prize money is PRO category only, and the website publishes a single list with the same figures for men and women: 5,000 euros for the winner, 2,750 for second, then 1,750, 1,250, 1,000 and 750 down to sixth. Local taxes and bank charges come off the amount.
One condition worth reading before you lock in the flight home: «la asistencia a la ceremonia de premios es obligatoria para poder optar al premio en metálico», attendance at the prize ceremony is compulsory to claim the prize money, and the ceremony runs from 17:30 to 18:30.
The trophies do not all go to whoever crosses the line first overall. There is one for the first conejero or conejera, born in Lanzarote, and another for the first Canarian resident, who also gets 50 % off the following year’s entry. The top 3 in each age group and the top 6 in the PRO complete the list. In the relays there is a finisher medal and patch for every team that finishes, and a trophy for the winning men’s, women’s and mixed teams.
The two 2027 dates, and which to pick
Club La Santa has two triathlons in its 2027 calendar, and all three formats open entries at the same time. The Volcano Triathlon is the olympic and the sprint, on a provisional date of 24 April 2027, and it was born in 1984. This middle distance comes afterwards, on a provisional date of 26 June 2027. With today’s two dates there are nine weeks between them, so they can be strung together without inventing an impossible season.
If the question is bigger and it is about choosing a race for the year, the comparison of the island’s three triathlon options is in IRONMAN vs Volcano vs Ocean Lava.
What is still missing
The athlete guide for this race is not published, checked on 14 October 2026: the website says it will come out as soon as possible. With it will come the final weekend schedule and the confirmation of the day. Until then, what you have is a reliable opening time and a provisional race date.
The full listing, with the course, the official links and whatever changes along the way, is at Club La Santa Volcano Triathlon Half. It is updated the same day the form opens.
