The 2026 Club La Santa Volcano Triathlon confirmed its place in Lanzarote’s triathlon calendar. The race took place on 25 April over Olympic distance, starting at 8:00 from the Club La Santa lagoon and combining the swim, a bike course through the north of the island and a run around Tinajo.
Dieter Comhair won the men’s race in 1:52:53. Daniel Baekkegard finished second, 1:05 behind, and Laurens Verluyten was third at +2:36. In the women’s race, Lucy Charles won in 2:04:18, ahead of Anne Haug at +1:35 and Lydia Dant at +9:58.
The result matters, but the event profile matters too. Volcano is accessible enough for committed age-group athletes, yet the front of the race often brings a very high competitive level. Cadena SER Lanzarote reported more than 350 participants from 25 nationalities, keeping the international character of a race first held in 1984.

Race reading
The swim kept the race open early, but the bike started to stretch the field. In the men’s race, Comhair held off pressure from Baekkegard and Verluyten before turning the 10 km run into a controlled defence. In the women’s race, Charles built a significant bike gap and had enough room to manage the closing run.
Volcano works as a bridge between spring popular races and long-distance targets. For athletes preparing for IRONMAN Lanzarote, racing at Club La Santa a few weeks earlier offers a real test of wind, transitions and competitive rhythm without taking on the load of a long-distance race.
