The Travesía a Nado Alejandro Candela swam its eighth edition on Saturday 17 October 2026 at Playa de Las Cucharas, in Costa Teguise, as the fourth stage of the XII Lanzarote Open Water Swimming Cup. The 1.5 km classification holds 116 rows: 70 men and 46 women. Updated on 18 October 2026: the official classification has gained one row since race day, when it held 115 with 69 men. The fastest time was 18:35 and the fastest woman, 19:40.
Why there are no names here
The positions and the times are given in full. The names are left out, and it is worth saying why before the tables.
The overall classification of this swim is called «1,5 Km Infantil, Junior y Máster (2012 y anteriores)», the 1.5 km for infantil, junior and master swimmers born in 2012 or earlier: a single table in which people born in 2012 swim alongside people born in 1952. The timer also publishes the 27 category classifications, from Infantil (2011-2012) to Máster K (1952-1956), and that is what makes it possible to know which one each swimmer is in.
Read on 17 October 2026, those categories show that the six swimmers on the podium are all in youth categories: five in Infantil (2011-2012) and one in Junior 2 (2007-2008), where the year of birth is not enough to decide whether the swimmer has already turned eighteen. With that in front of us, TriLanzarote leaves the names out. The times, the positions and the number of classified swimmers are public and can be checked in the official classification.
One thing that can be told without naming anyone: all six swim for the club that organises the race, Club de Natación Nadamas.
The 1.5 km
| Position | Men | Women |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 18:35 | 19:40 |
| 2 | 18:46 | 19:42 |
| 3 | 18:47 | 19:42 |
The first three men come in inside twelve seconds of each other, and the second and third women record the same time, 19:42. The times are the ones in the official classification, not gaps calculated from the winner.
The relay
The 4x200 mixed relay had five teams classified. BDN² won in 11:14, ahead of Los inalcanzables (11:28) and Cuatro y el mar (11:43). The classification publishes each team’s line-up, with minors in it, so what goes here is the team names and their times.
What has no published classification
The swim covers six distances: the 1.5 km, the 800, the 400, the 50 metres, the 300-metre inclusive swim and the relay. The timer publishes two, the 1.5 km and the relay, checked on 17 October 2026 at 15:51. The four short distances, swum in sequence behind the long one, have no classification on that platform. Entries had closed on 14 October with 196 swimmers signed up across the six categories.
What comes next
One stage is left to close out the XII Cup. The island calendar, and what each month brings, is in the Lanzarote race calendar, and the island’s open water swims, one by one, are in the open water swims guide. If you are preparing yours, October 2026 still has dates left.
