The Fitness Race Lanzarote 2026: 650 in Puerto del Carmen

The 5th The Fitness Race Lanzarote drew more than 650 participants on Saturday 11 April 2026 to the Plaza de las Naciones in Puerto del Carmen. It is the biggest turnout in its history and the first time the hybrid race has been staged in the tourist centre of Tías. The organisers have published no classifications, so there are no winners or times here.

The format was 6 kilometres split into eight 700-metre laps, with a strength station between each one. There were individual, pairs and mixed team categories. It is run by Club Deportivo The Fitness Hybrid together with the Paleotraining Tías, The Jungle Box and Hybrid Box Siroco gyms, with the support of Tías town council.

Competitors came from Lanzarote, the rest of the Canaries, mainland Spain and abroad. The figure marks the trajectory of a race that has kept changing venue: it started in Costa Teguise, moved to Tías in 2024, was held in February 2025 at the Agapito Viera municipal ground in Arrecife with around 500 participants, and returned in August 2025 to the Tías municipal ground. The fifth edition took it out of a sports ground and into a public square.

The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, said the race “once again shows our municipality’s commitment to sport and to promoting healthy habits”. The sports councillor, Ismael Cruz, said “this event has become a much-anticipated date that combines physical demand, fun and community”.

Why there are no podiums

It is worth saying plainly, because anyone looking for this edition’s results will not find them and deserves to know why. The three previous editions had a timing page with a searchable classification. The fifth never opened one, and the two outlets that covered the day published a podium photograph without naming anyone. There is no official race website either.

It is a striking gap for a competition with an overall ranking by category and a ranking by age group, that is, with several podiums to award. If the organisers release the classifications, we will update this page with them.

The venue, and what it changes

A 700-metre lap in a square has a practical consequence: your supporter sees everything from one spot and you pass your own bag eight times. The Plaza de las Naciones also put the race on the Puerto del Carmen promenade, with the shops and restaurants around it, something the council highlighted afterwards.

No date has been announced for the sixth edition, and the history warns it can fall at any time of year: there have been editions in February, in April and in August. Everything coming up is in the Lanzarote sports events calendar.
